The World of Hyatt program has announced its annual award chart changes, affecting 183 properties.
Among these, 137 properties will be subject to devaluation, requiring more World of Hyatt points for free night awards if booked after March 26th, 2024.
Conversely, 46 hotels will move to a lower category, reducing the points needed for a free night award.

Hyatt Award Charts
An encouraging aspect of this year’s changes is that Hyatt has chosen to leave its existing fixed award charts untouched.
This ensures that each category will continue to require the same number of points per night to redeem free night awards.

Any Hyatt Category 1-4 and 1-7 free night awards reserved before 8:00 a.m. CT, March 26, 2024, will adhere to the existing Award Chart. The current Award Chart will apply if you secure a category 1-4 or 1-7 free night award booking before 8:00 a.m. CT, March 26, 2024, for a stay on or after March 26, 2024. However, any Category 1-4 or 1-7 free night award redemption made or revised at 8:00 a.m. CT, March 26, 2024, or later will be subject to the new Award Chart.
How will award reservations made before 8:00 a.m. CT on March 26, 2024, be affected if the hotel I am currently staying at increases the points required?
Any Free Night or Points + Cash Award booked before 8:00 a.m. CT on March 26, 2024, at a property moving to a higher category and requiring more points will not be affected. The reservations will remain at the initially booked point level.
For instance, if a Free Night Award was booked at a Category 1 hotel for 5,000 points before 8:00 a.m. CT on March 26, 2024, and the hotel moves to Category 2, requiring 8,000 points, the award will still be honored at 5,000 points. If the member cancels this Free Night Award later, only the original 5,000 points will be returned to the member’s account, reflecting the points used during the initial booking.
How will reservations made before 8:00 a.m. CT on March 26, 2024, be affected if the hotel I booked reduces the points required?
Before 8:00 a.m. CT on March 26, 2024, any Free Night or Points + Cash Award reservation made for dates on or after March 26, 2024, at a property moving to a lower category with reduced point requirements will be adjusted. The World of Hyatt Customer Care Center will proactively credit the point difference to the member’s account starting March 27, 2024.
If an adjusted reservation is canceled, the originally deducted points will be refunded, while the adjusted points will be deducted. For instance, if a member booked a Free Night Award before 8:00 a.m. CT on March 26, 2024, for a Category 2 hotel at 8,000 points, which later transitions to a Category 1 hotel requiring 5,000 points, they will receive a 3,000-point refund. In case of cancellation, the initial 8,000-point award will be reinstated before removing the 3,000-point adjustment.
How will adjustments to current reservations be managed from 8:00 a.m. CT on March 26, 2024?
Any changes to reservations made on or after 8:00 a.m. CT, March 26, 2024, will be subject to the updated Award Chart terms. If adjustments to Category 1-4 or 1-7 Award Night bookings result in the need for a new award issuance, these cannot be redeemed for hotels reclassified above Category 4 or 7 after 8:00 a.m. CT, March 26, 2024.
